Lumen Planning Notes
Bringing your own event team? Agree these details first
A practical planning guide for coordinating suppliers, access and the handover at Lumen on Locust.
Your caterer has a favourite kitchen layout. Your florist has a van full of things that must arrive before the guests. Your DJ would quite reasonably like to know where the sockets are. A venue booking brings all those separate plans into one room. The useful question is whether they fit together.
Lumen, at 2201 Locust Street in St. Louis, is being relaunched with an open-vendor model. You arrange your event team, and the venue confirms the proposed use and access arrangements. Its published reopening date is planned, not a promise that every requirement for every event has been cleared.[1]
Start with the whole day
Send your preferred date, event type and estimated guest count. Then describe the time you need before and after the party. A reception beginning at six may need deliveries much earlier. The last guest leaving does not mean the last rental item has left.
Ask for the agreed access period in writing. Include setup, service, packing away and collection. A calendar entry or an inquiry is not a confirmed reservation, and a short-notice request needs individual review.[1]
Give each supplier the same facts
Tell Lumen who is handling catering, drinks, equipment and coordination. Outside vendors give you choice, but someone still needs to organise their arrival times and requirements. Decide who that person is before several vans arrive together.
Confirm kitchen access and usable equipment for your particular event. A photograph cannot tell your caterer whether an appliance is ready for service. The same principle applies to connectivity and technical requirements: ask for confirmation before building your event around them.[1]
Alcohol service also needs specific discussion with the responsible provider and venue. Do not infer permission from a catering arrangement. This guide does not establish which licences or permits your event requires.[1]
Finish on a good note
Lumen's published rental inclusions include trash bags and liners, basic cleaning supplies and a full deep clean between events. Guests and vendors are asked to take their belongings and equipment, bag rubbish and leave the room reasonably tidy within the agreed access hours. The deep clean is the venue's responsibility.[1]
That division is worth sharing with every supplier. It makes the handover clearer and helps the next party arrive to a room ready for its agreed setup.
Start with a date inquiry. Bring the parts of your plan that are known, flag the parts that are still taking shape, and ask Lumen to confirm what the room can support before you commit your suppliers.
